This kind of equipment are characterized by a horizontal or vertical cylindrical firebox, internally lined with refractory and without any coil installed inside the firebox. The scope of the equipment is to incinerate contaminated hydrocarbon gases (containing for instance BTEX or other gases).
Generally a single special burner is fitted to burn the contaminated fuel gas. Combustion chamber volume and sizing is specially designed to achieve the required temperature and residence time to complete the combustion of contaminant to be incinerated. Since the flue gases are discharged from the incinerator at an elevated temperature (well above 800°C) generally a waste heat recovery unit is fitted downstream to increase the system efficiency.
