The new revised edition of API Standard 560, Fired Heaters for General Refinery Services, Fifth Edition, has been published.

This standard specifies requirements and gives recommendations for the design, materials, fabrication, inspection, testing, preparation for shipment, and erection of fired heaters and associated equipment for general refinery service.

Upon request, Vergaengineering will be pleased to provide a comparison table between the new and the previous editions and/or between API Standard 560 and ISO 13705 Standard. Among the several changes, it has to be highlighted the new mandatory requirement for shop partial dry-out of castable refractory in order to reduce the possibility of alkali hydrolysis.
